Ayana Coston is a native of Philadelphia, where she graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. After graduation Ayana moved to the DC Metro Area where she worked at Lockheed Martin, NJVC, then Booz Allen Hamilton as a contractor then a full time Sr. Consultant. Ayana completed her Masters degree at American university in 2007 in Organizational Development (OD). She chose Organizational Development as a means to expand her skills as a HR Generalist through assessing, diagnosing, and helping clients reach meaningful planned change efforts/initiatives.
Ayana has a total of 8 years experience in HR. She began her career as a HR Assistant and recruiter with Aetna US healthcare, moved on to Lockheed Martin, where she spent almost 4 years, 2 of which were dedicated to their Human Resources Leadership Development Program. This program afforded Ayana to interact with leaders at various levels and do rotational assignments. She did HR generalist work as well as specialized in Compensation, Diversity, International HR, and College Recruiting. Ayana then moved on to create and lead an outreach recruiting program for hiring cleared employees with a emphasis on Military Hiring and partnerships as well as college interns at NJVC. Finally, Ayana joined Booz Allen Hamilton as a contractor for a year where she worked in HR as a contract HR specialist handling management and employee coaching, assisting with assessments, and compensation concerns, and various HR projects. Ayana has worked independently as a career coach, resume writer, and independent OD consultant with several small and or nonprofit companies. She is a HR professional by trade with an emerging interest in practicing Organizational Development into her work. Ayana wants to make an impact in the world through continued partnerships and networking of people that focuses on total career and life satisfaction. Ayana volunteers at colleges, military bases, or other progressive organizations that need speakers to motivate employees and help people make the right career match! Ayana enjoys helping clients, both career professionals and the youth integrate their passion and purpose to reach their life and career goals. She loves to speak/facilitate, travel, cook, and entertain friends and family.
